Four retired friends were strolling through the streets of London when they spotted a sign outside a pub.
It read:
“Old Timers Bar – All Drinks 10p.”
They looked at one another in disbelief and decided to go inside.
The elderly bartender greeted them with a smile.
“Welcome, gentlemen! What can I get you?”
The bar was fully stocked, and each of the four men ordered a martini.
A few moments later, the bartender served four perfectly chilled martinis.
“That’ll be 10p each,” he said.
The men stared at him, then at each other.
Surely this couldn’t be real.
They paid the 40p, finished their drinks, and ordered another round.
Once again, the bartender served four excellent martinis.
“That’ll be another 40p, please.”
After paying, one of the men couldn’t resist asking,
“How can you afford to sell drinks like these for only 10p?”
The bartender smiled.
“I used to be a tailor, but I always dreamed of owning a pub. Last year I won £25 million on the lottery, so I decided to open one. Every drink costs 10p, whether it’s beer, wine, or spirits.”
“That’s incredible!” one of the men said.
As they enjoyed their drinks, they noticed seven elderly customers sitting quietly at the other end of the bar.
None of them had ordered anything.
Curious, one of the friends asked,
“Why aren’t those gentlemen having a drink?”
The bartender chuckled.
“They’re retired folks from Yorkshire.”
“So?”
“They’re waiting for Happy Hour, when the drinks are half price.”
