A man was driving through an intersection when the light turned yellow. He did the right thing and stopped at the crosswalk, even though he could have rushed through before the light turned red.
The older woman driving behind him was furious. She honked her horn, shouted in frustration, and angrily waved her hands as she missed the chance to get through the intersection.
Suddenly, she heard a knock on her window.
She looked up and saw a serious-looking police officer.
Officer:
“Please step out of the vehicle with your hands where I can see them.”
The woman was taken to the police station, where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.
A couple of hours later, another officer came to the cell and escorted her back to the booking desk.
The arresting officer was waiting with her belongings.
Officer:
“Ma’am, I’m very sorry. This was a mistake.”
Woman:
“A mistake? What happened?”
Officer:
“I pulled up behind your car while you were honking, yelling at the driver in front of you, and making some very angry gestures.”
“I also noticed the ‘What Would Jesus Do?’ bumper sticker, the ‘Choose Life’ license plate holder, the ‘Follow Me to Sunday School’ sticker, and the Christian fish emblem on your trunk.”
He paused and smiled awkwardly.
Officer:
“So naturally… I assumed you had stolen the car.”
