A husband and wife had been married for 40 years.
The husband always managed the family’s money, and he had one strict rule for his wife.
“Never look inside the safe,” he would always say.
One day, while he was away, her curiosity got the better of her.
She opened the safe and found three eggs and $10,000 in cash.
When her husband came home, she admitted what she had done.
“I know you told me not to open the safe,” she said, “but I did. I just don’t understand why there are three eggs in there.”
The husband sighed and said,
“To be completely honest, every time I have an affair with another woman, I put one egg in the safe.”
The wife was shocked but stayed calm.
“Well,” she said, “I’m certainly not happy about it. But I guess three affairs in 40 years isn’t as bad as I expected.”
The husband nodded and added,
“There’s one more thing you should know.”
“What’s that?” she asked.
“Whenever I collect a dozen eggs, I sell them. That’s where the $10,000 came from.”
