A police officer in Grafton stopped at a local farm.
He approached an old farmer and said,
“I need to inspect your farm for illegally grown drugs.”
The farmer nodded and replied,
“Okay, but please don’t go into that field over there,” as he pointed toward a specific area.
The police officer immediately became angry.
“Mister, I have the authority of the federal government behind me!”
He reached into his back pocket, pulled out his badge, and proudly showed it to the farmer.
“See this badge? It means I can go anywhere I want, on any land, without asking permission. Have I made myself clear?”
The farmer quietly apologized, nodded, and returned to his work.
A short time later, the farmer heard loud screaming.
He looked up and saw the police officer running as fast as he could across the field, with the farmer’s massive Santa Gertrudis bull chasing him.
With every step the officer took, the bull seemed to gain two.
Realizing what was happening, the farmer dropped his tools, stood up, and yelled,
“Your badge! Show him your badge!”
