A man goes to see the Pope with an unusual business offer.
Man:
“Your Holiness, I work for KFC, and we’d like to offer you ten million dollars to change the Lord’s Prayer from ‘Give us this day our daily bread’ to ‘Give us this day our daily chicken.'”
The Pope is shocked.
Pope:
“I can’t just change God’s word for money!”
Man:
“Fifty million dollars! Think of all the good the Church could do with that money, Your Holiness.”
Pope:
“I already told you. I simply can’t do it. I’m sorry.”
The man makes one final offer.
Man:
“Okay, final offer: one hundred million dollars. Take it or leave it.”
The next day, the Pope calls all the leaders of the Church together.
Pope:
“Gentlemen, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that we’ve raised one hundred million dollars for Catholic Charities.”
The room erupts in cheers!
The Pope waits for everyone to quiet down, then says:
Pope:
“And now for the bad news: We lost the Wonder Bread account.”
