A young man named John received a parrot as a gift.
Unfortunately, the parrot had a terrible attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Almost everything it said was rude and unpleasant.
John tried everything he could think of to improve the bird’s behavior. He spoke politely, played soft music, and patiently tried to teach the parrot better manners.
Eventually, John lost his patience and shouted at the parrot.
The parrot shouted right back, becoming even more difficult.
In desperation, John picked up the parrot and placed it in the freezer.
For several minutes, the parrot squawked, complained, and made a terrible racket.
Then suddenly, everything went completely quiet.
John waited for more than a minute without hearing a sound. Worried that something had happened, he quickly opened the freezer.
The parrot calmly stepped onto John’s arm.
Parrot:
“I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and behavior. I’m sincerely sorry, and I promise to do everything I can to improve my manners.”
John was amazed by the sudden change.
Before he could ask what had caused it, the parrot quietly added,
Parrot:
“May I ask what the turkey did?”
