A man was leaving a convenience store with his morning coffee when he noticed a very unusual funeral procession heading toward the nearby cemetery.
A black hearse led the way, followed about 50 feet behind by a second black hearse.
Behind the second hearse walked a single man holding a dog on a leash.
Following him was a long line of nearly 200 men, all walking quietly in single file.
Curious, the man politely approached the dog owner and said,
“I’m very sorry for your loss. I hope you don’t mind me asking, but I’ve never seen a funeral procession like this. Whose funeral is it?”
The man replied,
“It’s my wife’s.”
“What happened?” he asked.
“She was yelling at me, and my dog attacked her.”
The curious man then asked,
“Who is in the second hearse?”
“My mother-in-law,” the man answered. “She tried to help my wife, and the dog attacked her too.”
The two men stood in silence for a moment.
Finally, the curious man asked,
“Could I borrow your dog?”
The man looked at the long line behind him and replied,
“Get in line.”
