A couple invited their family over for Thanksgiving dinner.
As everyone gathered, the couple’s children arrived a little late.
Their mother-in-law immediately complained,
“Ugh, your children are always late.”
Eventually, everyone sat down at the table.
The mother-in-law insisted on sitting at the head of the table, and no one had the energy to argue with her.
After waiting a few minutes, she started complaining again.
“Ugh, why is the food always late?”
A short while later, the couple served the Thanksgiving meal, which had mostly been prepared by the wife.
Everyone began eating, and the evening continued.
Halfway through the meal, the mother-in-law stood up and said,
“Ugh, I’d better start clearing the dishes so we can at least get to dessert on time.”
The moment she stepped away from her chair, a large wall clock hanging directly above it crashed to the floor, smashing the chair into pieces.
Everyone sat in stunned silence.
Then the bride quietly muttered,
“Ugh… this clock… always late.”
