After finishing a round of golf, four older ladies sat around the clubhouse chatting.
A golf pro who knew them walked over and asked,
“So, how did everyone play today?”
The first lady smiled and said,
“I had a great round. I got 25 riders.”
The golf pro looked puzzled. He had never heard that term before.
The second lady added,
“I played well too. I had 16 riders.”
The third lady said,
“My round was just average. I only had 10 riders.”
The fourth lady laughed and admitted,
“I had the worst game today. I only managed two riders.”
Now the golf pro was completely confused.
Not wanting to embarrass himself by asking, he smiled politely, wished the ladies a good day, and walked away.
A few minutes later, he asked the bartender,
“Can you tell me what those ladies meant by ‘riders’?”
The bartender smiled and replied,
“A ‘rider’ is when you hit the ball far enough that you get to ride the golf cart to where it lands.”
