The Frog’s Loan Application
A frog walked into a bank and approached the teller.
From her nameplate, he could see that her name was Patricia Whack.
“Miss Whack, I’d like to apply for a $30,000 loan to take a holiday,” he said.
Pattie looked at the frog in disbelief but pulled out a loan application form.
“May I have your name, please?” she asked.
The frog puffed out his chest proudly.
“Kermit Jagger. My father is Mick Jagger, and I’m a friend of the bank manager.”
Pattie raised her eyebrows but continued filling out the form.
“Mr. Jagger, you’ll need to provide some collateral to secure the loan.”
“I have this,” said the frog, producing a tiny porcelain elephant. It was bright pink, perfectly formed, and only about half an inch tall.
Pattie stared at the little elephant in confusion.
“I’m afraid I’ll need to speak with the manager about this,” she said.
Taking the elephant with her, she went into the manager’s office.
“There’s a frog named Kermit Jagger out there who says he knows you and wants to borrow $30,000,” she explained. “He wants to use this as collateral.”
Holding up the tiny pink elephant, she asked,
“What in the world is this?”
The bank manager looked at her with a straight face and said,
“It’s a knick-knack, Pattie Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man’s a Rolling Stone.”
