An old man bought a well from a clever fellow.
The very next day, while on his way to the market, he ran into the seller.
The man smirked and said,
“I sold you the well, but I didn’t sell you the water inside it. If you want to use the water, you’ll have to pay me.”
The old man looked at him for a moment and then smiled.
“Actually,” he said,
“I was planning to come and ask you to remove your water from my well.”
“If you leave it there, you’ll have to pay me rent for storing it in my well.”
Moral: Sometimes, trying to be too clever can backfire.
