An elderly woman walked into a bank in New York City before leaving on vacation and asked for a $5,000 loan.
The banker looked surprised and asked,
“Certainly, ma’am. Do you have anything you’d like to use as collateral?”
“Yes,” she replied. “I’ll use my Rolls-Royce.”
The banker blinked in disbelief.
“Your Rolls-Royce? The one worth around $250,000?”
The woman nodded confidently.
She handed over the keys while the bankers and loan officers quietly laughed among themselves.
They checked her credentials and confirmed that she was the legal owner of the vehicle.
Everything was in order.
The bank approved the loan and parked the Rolls-Royce in its secure underground garage for the next two weeks.
When the woman returned from her trip, she paid back the $5,000 loan along with $15.41 in interest.
Curious, the loan officer said,
“Ma’am, we appreciate your business, but I have to ask. We checked your financial records and discovered that you’re a multi-millionaire. Why would you need to borrow $5,000?”
The elderly woman smiled and replied,
“Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41 and know it’ll still be there when I get back?”
