Four retired old men were walking down a street in Cooktown.
As they turned the corner, they saw a sign that read:
“Old Timer’s Bar – All Drinks 10 Cents.”
They looked at each other, thinking it had to be too good to be true, and decided to go inside.
The elderly bartender welcomed them.
“Come on in! What can I get you, gentlemen?”
The bar was fully stocked, so each of the men ordered a martini.
A few moments later, the bartender served four perfectly made martinis and said,
“That’ll be 10 cents each, please.”
The four men stared at him in disbelief.
Then they smiled, paid the 40 cents, finished their drinks, and ordered another round.
Once again, the bartender served four excellent martinis.
“That’ll be 40 cents, please.”
They paid, but their curiosity got the better of them.
One of the men finally asked,
“How can you afford to sell martinis like these for only 10 cents each?”
The bartender smiled.
“I’m a retired tailor from Sydney. Last year I won $25 million in the lottery, and I always dreamed of owning a bar. So I opened this one. Every drink is 10 cents—beer, wine, liquor, everything.”
“Wow,” one of the men said. “That’s incredible.”
As they enjoyed their drinks, they noticed seven people sitting at the other end of the bar without any drinks.
One of the men pointed at them and asked,
“What’s with those people?”
The bartender laughed and replied,
“They’re waiting for happy hour when the drinks are half price!”
