A little old lady tried to call her local bank, but instead of reaching the branch, she was connected to the bank’s call centre.
“Is this the High Street branch?” she asked.
“No, madam,” replied the agent. “It is now company policy to handle all telephone calls centrally.”
“Well, I really need to speak to the branch,” said the old lady.
“Madam, if you tell me what your question is, I’m sure I can help you.”
“I don’t think you can, young man. I need to speak to the branch.”
The call centre agent remained confident.
“There’s nothing the branch can help you with that I can’t handle myself.”
“Very well then,” sighed the old lady.
“Could you just check the counter for me and see if I left my gloves there when I came in this morning?”
