A little old lady called her local bank, hoping to speak with someone at her neighborhood branch.
Instead, her call was answered by the bank’s central call center.
“Is this the High Street branch?” she asked.
“No, madam,” the representative replied. “Our phone calls are now handled by a central call center.”
“I really need to speak to someone at the branch,” the old lady said.
“I’m sure I can help,” the representative answered. “Just tell me what you need.”
The old lady politely replied,
“I don’t think you can, young man. I need to talk to the branch.”
The representative insisted,
“There’s nothing the branch can do that I can’t help you with.”
The old lady sighed and said,
“All right then. Could you please check the counter and tell me if I left my gloves there when I came in this morning?”
