An elderly couple was celebrating their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
They had been childhood sweethearts and, after retiring, moved back to their old neighborhood.
One day, while holding hands, they walked to their old school.
The building was unlocked, so they went inside and found the old desk they had once shared, where Jerry had carved, “I love you, Sally.”
As they were walking home, a bag full of money fell out of an armored car and landed almost at their feet.
Sally quickly picked it up, and since they didn’t know what to do with it, they took it home.
Once there, she counted the money.
There was $50,000 inside!
“We have to return it,” said Jerry.
“Finders keepers,” replied Sally.
She put the money back in the bag and hid it in the attic.
The next day, two police officers were going door to door looking for the missing money.
When they knocked on the couple’s door, one officer asked,
“Excuse me, did either of you find a bag that fell out of an armored car yesterday?”
“No,” said Sally.
“She’s lying,” Jerry said. “She hid it in the attic.”
Sally rolled her eyes.
“Don’t listen to him. He’s getting senile.”
The officers turned to Jerry.
“Alright, tell us the story from the beginning.”
Jerry nodded and began,
“Well, yesterday, Sally and I were walking home from school…”
The first officer looked at his partner and said,
“We’re outta here!”
