A man was driving past a farm when a rooster suddenly ran into the road.
Before he could stop, he accidentally hit the bird.
Feeling terrible, he picked up the rooster and walked to the farmhouse to apologize.
When the farmer answered the door, the man said,
“I’m very sorry. I accidentally ran over your rooster. I feel awful about it, and I’d be happy to replace him.”
The farmer thought for a moment, then smiled and said,
“Well, if you really want to go around back and keep the hens company, be my guest… but I’d rather you just pay for a new rooster.”
