A wealthy old man was lying on his deathbed when he realized he had never written a will.
He called his lawyer and asked him to come over the next day.
When the lawyer arrived, the old man said,
“I want 25% of my estate to go to charity. After everything I’ve earned in my life, it’s time to give something back.”
The lawyer smiled.
“That’s very generous. I’ll make sure it’s done.”
The old man continued,
“I also want 25% to go to my son. He’s been looking forward to inheriting my money for years.”
“No problem,” the lawyer replied. “I’ll see that he gets it.”
“Then I want the remaining 50% to go to my wife,” the old man said, “but only if she remarries after I’m gone.”
The lawyer looked puzzled.
“I’ll include that in your will,” he said. “But may I ask why you want her to remarry? It’s an unusual condition.”
The old man smiled and answered,
“Because I want to make sure at least one man regrets my death.”
