A man was traveling through Israel with his wife and his mother-in-law.
Soon after they arrived, the mother-in-law sadly passed away.
His wife was heartbroken, so the husband took responsibility for making all the funeral arrangements.
She hoped they could take her mother’s body back home, but she trusted her husband to handle everything.
The husband spoke with a local priest, who explained that shipping the body back to their home country would cost at least ten times more than having a funeral in Israel.
After thinking it over, the husband told his wife,
“We’re bringing her home. We’ll bury her in the same cemetery as your father.”
His wife thanked him and felt comforted that everything had been arranged.
Later, the priest said,
“You made a very expensive choice. May I ask why? Were you especially close to your mother-in-law?”
The husband smiled and replied,
“I’ve heard that someone died in this place and came back to life three days later.”
“I’m not taking any chances.”
