Little Johnny was practicing the violin in the living room while his father was trying to read a newspaper in the den.
The family dog was lying nearby, and as the screeching sounds of Johnny’s violin filled the house, the dog began to howl loudly.
For a while, Johnny kept playing, the dog kept howling, and his father tried his best to ignore both.
Finally, he had enough.
He jumped to his feet, threw his newspaper on the floor, and shouted over the noise,
“For Pete’s sake, can’t you play something the dog doesn’t know?”
