Little Johnny came home from school and said,
“Dad, I got four F’s today.”
His father frowned.
“Four F’s? In what subjects?”
“English, Math, PE, and Religion.”
His dad sighed.
“Alright. How did you fail English?”
“The teacher wrote:
Mary loves John. Mary loves Allan. Mary loves Mark.
Then she asked, ‘What is Mary in these sentences?’”
“What did you say?” asked his father.
“I said, ‘Mary is a real player.’”
“And she gave you an F?”
“Yep.”
His father shook his head.
“Fine. What happened in Math?”
“The teacher asked me, ‘What’s 3 + 2?’”
“I said, ‘5.’”
“Then she asked, ‘What’s 2 + 3?’”
His father replied,
“It’s the same thing!”
“That’s exactly what I said,” Johnny answered.
His father sighed again.
“Okay… what about PE?”
“The teacher told us to raise our hands, so I did.”
“Then he said, ‘Lift your left leg,’ so I did.”
“Then he said, ‘Now lift your right leg.’”
His father asked,
“Well, what were you supposed to stand on?”
“That’s what I asked,” Johnny replied.
“And I got an F.”
His father rubbed his forehead.
“Alright… what happened in Religion?”
“The teacher said God is everywhere.”
“So I asked if God was in our neighbor’s basement.”
“She said yes.”
His father laughed.
“That’s impossible! Our neighbor doesn’t even have a basement.”
“That’s exactly what I told her.”
His father stood up.
“That’s it. Tomorrow I’m coming to your school.”
The next day, he returned home looking disappointed.
“Son,” he said, “I’m sorry… you’ve been expelled.”
Johnny was shocked.
“What? Why?”
His father replied,
“When I got to your classroom, the English, Math, PE, Religion… and the Art teacher were all sitting there.”
Johnny frowned.
“Wait… what was the Art teacher doing there?”
His father sighed.
“That’s exactly what I asked.”
