Little Johnny was always teased by the neighborhood boys, who thought he wasn’t very smart.
Their favorite trick was to hold out a nickel and a dime and let Johnny choose one.
Every single time, Johnny picked the nickel.
One day, after watching this happen again, a neighbor took Johnny aside and said,
“Johnny, those boys are making fun of you. Don’t you know a dime is worth more than a nickel, even though the nickel is bigger?”
Johnny smiled and replied,
“I know that.”
The neighbor looked surprised.
“Then why do you always take the nickel?”
Johnny grinned and said,
“Because if I ever took the dime, they’d stop offering me the choice. So far, I’ve made twenty dollars!”
