Jim had worked in the computer business for 25 years and was finally tired of the stress.
He quit his job and bought 50 acres of land deep in the wilderness, far away from everyone.
Except for the postman, who visited once a week, he enjoyed complete peace and quiet.
About six months later, while finishing his dinner one evening, someone knocked on his door.
When Jim opened it, he saw a big, bearded man standing there.
“My name’s MacDonald,” the man said.
“I’m your neighbor, and I’m having a party this Saturday. I thought you might like to come.”
Jim smiled.
“That sounds great! After six months out here, I’m ready to meet some local people.”
As MacDonald started to leave, he turned back and said,
“I should warn you… there’s gonna be some drinkin’.”
Jim laughed.
“That’s no problem. After 25 years in the computer business, I can handle that.”
MacDonald took a few more steps, then turned around again.
“There’ll probably be some fightin’, too.”
Jim thought for a moment but replied,
“I usually get along with people. I’ll be there.”
Once again, MacDonald turned back.
“And these parties can get pretty wild.”
Jim grinned.
“That’s fine. I’ve been alone for six months. I’m definitely coming.”
Then he asked,
“By the way, what should I wear?”
MacDonald smiled and replied,
“Whatever you want… it’s only gonna be the two of us.”
