One day, a family brought their frail elderly mother to a nursing home, hoping she would be well cared for.
The next morning, the nurses gave her a bath, served her a nice breakfast, and helped her sit in a chair by a window overlooking a beautiful flower garden.
She seemed comfortable at first.
But after a while, she slowly began leaning to one side in her chair.
Two attentive nurses quickly rushed over, caught her, and gently sat her upright again.
A little later, she started leaning the other way.
Once again, the nurses hurried over and straightened her up.
The same thing happened several times throughout the morning.
Later that day, her family arrived to see how she was settling into her new home.
“So, Mum,” they asked, “how do you like it here? Are they treating you well?”
“Oh, it’s very nice,” she replied.
“Except they won’t let you fart.”
