Arthur was 75 years old and had played golf every day since retiring 15 years earlier.
One day, he came home looking disappointed.
“That’s it,” he told his wife.
“I’m giving up golf. My eyesight has become so bad that after I hit the ball, I couldn’t see where it went.”
His wife felt sorry for him and made him a cup of tea.
As they sat together, she said,
“Why don’t you take my brother with you and give it one more try?”
“That won’t help,” Arthur sighed.
“Your brother is 85 years old.”
“He may be 85,” his wife replied, “but his eyesight is perfect.”
The next day, Arthur and his brother-in-law went to the golf course.
Arthur teed up the ball, took a powerful swing, and looked down the fairway.
He turned to his brother-in-law and asked,
“Did you see the ball?”
“Of course I did,” his brother-in-law replied. “My eyesight is perfect.”
“Great!” said Arthur. “So where did it go?”
His brother-in-law paused for a moment and said,
“I don’t remember.”
