An elderly couple in their 80s had started forgetting little things, so they visited their doctor for a checkup.
The doctor told them they were in good physical health but suggested they write things down to help with their memory.
Later that evening, they were watching TV when the husband stood up.
Wife:
“Where are you going?”
Husband:
“I’m going to the kitchen to get a snack.”
Wife:
“Would you bring me a piece of cake?”
Husband:
“Of course.”
Wife:
“Maybe you should write it down so you don’t forget.”
Husband:
“I don’t need to. I’ll remember.”
Wife:
“I’d like some strawberries on top, too. You’d better write that down.”
Husband:
“I’ve got it! Cake with strawberries.”
Wife:
“And I’d like whipped cream as well. Now I’m sure you’ll forget.”
Husband:
“I don’t need to write anything down! I can remember it cake with strawberries and whipped cream!”
Still grumbling, he walked into the kitchen.
About 30 minutes later, he returned carrying a plate of bacon and eggs.
His wife looked at the plate for a moment and asked,
Wife:
“Where’s my toast?”
