Three senior women were sitting together in a cozy diner, chatting over coffee.
The first woman sighed and said,
“I think my memory is getting worse. This morning, I stopped halfway on the stairs and couldn’t remember if I was going up or coming down.”
The second woman smiled and replied,
“That’s nothing. Last week I was lying in bed and couldn’t remember if I was trying to fall asleep or trying to get out of bed.”
The third woman shook her head.
“I’m lucky,” she said. “My memory is still as sharp as ever. Knock on wood!”
She tapped the wooden table with her knuckles.
A second later, she looked around in surprise and asked,
“Who’s there?!”
