A German, an Italian, a Frenchman, and an Englishman were having a philosophical debate.
The question came up:
“What separates humans from animals?”
German:
“Technology. Other creatures use tools, but none can match the engineering and inventions humans have created. Our technology separates us from the animals.”
Italian:
“I disagree. It’s food. Animals eat, of course, but they don’t cook. Humans create incredible dishes and combinations that make eating a wonderful experience.”
Frenchman:
“I say it’s art. No other creatures create art. Humans paint, sculpt, write, and compose music. Animals cannot understand the beauty of a great work of art.”
The three men turned toward the Englishman, waiting for his answer.
The Englishman took a long sip of tea and calmly replied:
Englishman:
“The Channel.”
