A man went to see the rabbi looking very worried.
Man:
“Rabbi, something terrible is happening, and I really need your advice.”
Rabbi:
“What’s wrong?”
Man:
“I’m convinced my wife is poisoning me!”
The rabbi looked surprised.
Rabbi:
“How could that be?”
Man:
“I’m certain she’s poisoning me. Please, tell me what I should do.”
Rabbi:
“Tell you what. I’ll speak with your wife, find out what’s going on, and then I’ll give you my advice.”
A week later, the rabbi called the man.
Rabbi:
“Well, I spoke with your wife. We talked on the phone for three hours. Do you still want my advice?”
Man:
“Yes, Rabbi. Please!”
Rabbi:
“Take the poison!”
