A husband and wife were driving down a quiet country road when suddenly thump! their car ran over something small.
Wife:
“Oh no! Stop the car! I think we hit a baby skunk!”
The husband pulled over, and they both looked back. Sure enough, a tiny skunk was lying in the road, still moving.
Wife:
“It’s still alive!”
Husband:
“Well… I could back up and put it out of its misery.”
Wife:
“What?! You monster! It’s just a baby! We’re taking it to a vet!”
She quickly called the nearest animal clinic.
Wife:
“Hello, we accidentally hit a baby skunk. It’s alive, but it’s shaking badly.”
Vet:
“Is it bleeding?”
Wife:
“No, but it’s trembling.”
Vet:
“Then it may be going into shock. Keep it warm and bring it in right away.”
The wife looked around the car.
Wife:
“But it’s 80 degrees outside. I don’t have a blanket or anything to keep it warm.”
The vet thought for a moment.
Vet:
“That’s okay. Just place the skunk between your legs to keep it warm and steady during the drive.”
The wife slowly lowered the phone and looked at her husband.
Wife:
“Did you hear that?”
Husband:
“Unfortunately, yes.”
Wife:
“But what about the smell?”
Vet:
“Oh, that’s easy. Just cover its nose.”
