After 35 years of marriage, a husband and wife went to see a marriage therapist.
When the therapist asked what the problem was, the wife immediately began talking.
She listed every issue she had faced during their marriage. She spoke about feeling ignored, lonely, unloved, and emotionally distant. She explained how years of unmet needs had left her feeling unhappy and forgotten.
She went on and on until she had finally said everything she wanted to say.
The therapist quietly stood up, walked around his desk, and asked the wife to stand.
He gave her a long, warm hug and a gentle kiss on the forehead while her husband watched with a surprised look on his face.
The woman became completely silent and sat back down, looking calm and speechless.
The therapist turned to the husband and said,
“This is the kind of affection your wife needs at least three times a week. Can you do that?”
The husband thought for a moment and replied,
“Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays, I go fishing.”
