An old golfer was playing near a water hazard when his club slipped from his hands and fell into the water.
He cried out in frustration, and suddenly the Lord appeared.
“Why are you crying?” the Lord asked.
The golfer explained that his club had fallen into the water and that he needed it to have any chance of winning the tournament and adding a little money to his modest pension.
The Lord went into the water and returned holding a golden golf club.
“Is this your club?” He asked.
“No,” replied the golfer.
The Lord went down again and came back with a silver club.
“Is this your club?”
Again, the golfer answered,
“No.”
The Lord went down a third time and returned with an ordinary iron club.
“Is this your club?”
“Yes,” said the golfer.
The Lord was pleased with the golfer’s honesty and rewarded him by giving him all three clubs.
The golfer happily took them home.
Some time later, the golfer was walking with his wife near the same water hazard when she accidentally fell into the river.
The golfer cried out, and once again the Lord appeared.
“Why are you crying?” asked the Lord.
“Oh Lord, my wife has fallen into the water!”
The Lord went into the river and came back with Kate Upton.
“Is this your wife?” He asked.
“Yes!” shouted the golfer.
The Lord looked angry.
“You lied! That is not your wife!”
The golfer quickly replied,
“Please forgive me, Lord. It’s all a misunderstanding.
You see, if I had said ‘No’ to Kate Upton, you would have come back with Jennifer Aniston.
Then, if I had said ‘No’ again, you would have brought back my wife.
If I had then said ‘Yes,’ you would have given me all three women.
Lord, I’m an old man. I’m not capable of taking care of all three women the way they deserve.
That’s why I said ‘Yes’ to Kate Upton.”
And God was pleased.
Moral of the story:
If a golfer ever tells a lie, it is for a good and honorable reason and only out of consideration for others!
