Little Johnny Helps the Elderly
A father was waiting for Little Johnny to come home from school.
His son arrived an hour late.
“Where were you?” the father asked.
“I helped a granny cross the road!” said Little Johnny.
The father smiled.
“I’m proud of you! Such a good deed deserves a reward. Here’s $5.”
The next day, the father was waiting again.
This time, Little Johnny arrived with a friend.
“Why are you late, and who’s that with you?” asked the father.
“He’s my classmate. We helped two grannies cross the road!” said Little Johnny.
The father was impressed.
“That’s wonderful. You both deserve a reward. Here’s $5 each!”
The following day, the father waited once more.
Several hours passed before Little Johnny finally arrived.
Behind him were most of his classmates.
The father looked surprised.
“Why are you so late from school, and who are all these kids?”
“They’re my classmates,” said Little Johnny.
“We worked together to help dozens of grannies cross the road.”
“That’s great!” said the father. “Here’s $5 for your efforts.”
“Father, since they all helped, you should reward them too.”
The father nodded but looked confused.
“Helping old ladies cross the road is a simple task. Why did so many of you need to help?”
“Because the grannies resisted.”
